How to make money with Amazon affiliates step by step is a question many people ask. I'll get to that in just a moment, but first let me tell you about this new amazon affiliate site we built and how it grew into a $150 per day earner!
This article is about building an affiliate site around products on Amazon and earning 100's of dollars every month. We did this recently and the process was surprisingly easy once we put our heads together and developed some effective techniques. Keep reading for all of the steps on how to build your own amazon affiliate empire from scratch...
1) Find A Profitable Niche
osing the niche market you want to market is probably the most difficult part of this whole process, but it doesn't have to be.
If you want to "niche down" and really focus your efforts, I'd suggest starting off with something like Home & Garden or Health & Fitness . These seem to convert pretty good for us on our amazon affiliate sites.
If you're more interested in building a passive income website that can earn you some dollars while your sleeping then stick with one of the "money makers" like weight loss , debt relief, dating tips etc...
I would stay away from anything extremely competitive because there's too much work involved getting ranked high enough for people to find out about your site. You also run the risk of Google slapping your butt with a penalty.
2) Do Keywords Research
Once you have your niche market selected there are several keyword research tools I'd suggest checking out. These are all free! They are extremely effective when it comes to finding profitable keywords with low competition.
I'll list them below in order of my preference:
1) Google Adwords "Keyword Tool" - This one is by far the most powerful tool I know of because it provides the estimated traffic numbers, search volume for each keyword and most importantly how much it would cost you to advertise that keyword on google adwords. You can find this information by ad group (how broad or specific your keywords will be). Another great feature of this tool is you can also see exactly how much it costs to advertise on each keyword. This is extremely important because you can fine-tune your bidding strategy in adwords which will save you tons of money in the long run.
2) SEO Book's Keyword Tool - I've always found this tool very useful when doing my research. It provides alot of great data, but it doesn't show traffic numbers or estimated cost for each keyword like AdWords does. There are plenty of other features though that help make this tool worthwhile including: search volume, number of related keywords and an "SEO" difficulty rating (how hard it would be to rank for that word).
3) Wordtracker - I couldn't really get into their interface, but I did notice a few keywords that I hadn't thought of before. This tool also allows you to do some basic demographic research which could be helpful for trying to sell products on your site.
4) Overture - It's not free, but it is the paid search leader so check out what they have in their keyword tool section . You can find alot of great data here including how many people are actually clicking on ads for each keyword related to your niche market.
5) SeoBook's SEOTool - Another useful tool with several useful features. Similar to the others mentioned here, but it has one feature that none of them have...The ability to estimate monthly ad spend for each keyword! This gives you an idea of if the money you spend on ads is worth it or not.
6) Keyword Discovery - This is a great tool for researching keywords and getting back some good data on the search volume and competition levels, but I haven't been able to get traffic estimates like the other tools provide.
7) Google Analytics Data - You can get alot of useful information from Google Analytics including what keywords people used to find your site (you need to go under "Traffic Sources" and click on "Keywords"). The nice thing about this though is that it uses your organic keyword rankings in google to determine how many people searched for each one along with several other helpful stats.
8) WordTracker Organizer - A great piece of software if you're using wordtracker. It allows you to do some much more detailed analysis of each keyword in your reports when doing your research.
3) Start Building Your Website
Now that you've chosen a niche market and done some research on profitable keywords you're ready to get started building a website. I'd suggest going with either an exact match domain or a partial match one if possible because they tend to have higher search engine rankings then sites with other TLD's (top level domains). They also look better/more professional in the eyes of the average internet user which could make you stand out from all the other cheap looking affiliate websites. If buying an exact match domain is too expensive for your pocket book then go with a partial match one as they tend to be much cheaper and still rank well.
If you can't afford any domain name because of the large up front costs then go with a free blog site like blogger . I'd also suggest holding off on keyword research until you can make your own website and start optimizing it for those keywords (you will do alot better if you have picked your niche market first before picking out keywords).
