INSTAGRAM: A RISING SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM

 

Instagram is another new social media platform for which everyone is crazy about. It was developed in America by Kevin Systrom in 2010. Instagram allows us to share photos and videos in its app within or among people we like. It allows people to edit their pictures with various filters and post them on their handle. People can easily browse by tagging, commenting or by liking each other pictures.

Basic knowledge:-

                      I.            The heart beneath your picture lets you like or else a double tap on the picture can always work!

                    II.            The cloud like option lets you comment on post.

                 III.            The arrow like option lets you share that post to whomever you want.

                 IV.            The three dots available on top right hand of a picture, it allows you to report a picture, if it’s wrong.

People generally tend to “like” each other’s pictures. “likes” can have different meanings, can their likeness can depend upon various factors like:-

·        Their real likeness of your picture you posted.

·        A general intellect that they have noticed your post.

 

But sooner or later the instagram is thinking to disable its “like” option as the main concept behind instagram was to share creativity and pictures without making it as a competition that who gets more or less likes.

Most of you might have noticed that some of the pages on instagram try to “sell” likes, for instance- pay 100 rupees and get 10 likes. This clearly shows how much people are conscious of their social media handles and how likes affect one’s own thoughts and performance! On a large level some people start fearing about their status and suffer with anxiety or depression. This is most common among teenagers, they tend to compete with each other on their social media handles and try to publicize about themselves.

 

Hiding likes from instagram could help in a lot many ways as people then will focus upon a lot more important things rather than competing over likes! Although likes won’t be hiding from the main persons account, like if I post a picture and got some likes, then they would be visible to me but not the people who look at my account. This way instagram can get back its creativity without any bad competition.
