9 Ways to Earn Money Online

1. Write articles for other people

Nowadays, the Internet is full of websites looking for writers to publish articles on their sites. For example, Google has a program called Adsense that helps website owners make money by adding ads to their sites. They pay you every time someone clicks on one of those ads. Some people create an entire blog just for this purpose and write different things about different topics that are related to the main topic of the blog (i.e., gardening). Many companies will even pay you upfront for your writing services; however, it's not easy money since they expect you to produce quality work within oddly specific guidelines. You can sign up with these companies as either a freelance writer or copywriter (it's the same thing).

2. Sell items online

One of the biggest trends right now is people making money by reselling other people's stuff on websites like eBay or Craigslist. The key to making money with this method is to find things that are in high demand yet hard to find, and then buy them up as much as you can. For example, I once bought 18 Wii games for $40, resold them for about $120, and then gave away most of them to my friends. If you don't have any extra stuff lying around that people want, you can make a few bucks by going through your house and taking pictures of valuable-looking things (jewelry, electronics) and uploading the photos onto one of those online classifieds.

3. Make money with an online store

If you already have a physical product like handmade earrings, homemade jam, or imported coffee beans to sell, the Internet is your best friend. Sell your stuff on sites like Etsy, eBay, and Amazon .com  (the last one doesn't allow the sale of physical products). You can also create an extra source of income by finding other people's stuff on those sites and reselling it at a higher price yourself (just make sure that what you're reselling isn't illegal).

4. Become a blogger

The key to being successful as a blogger is to constantly come up with new ideas for blog posts about things people want to hear about. Are you passionate about football (soccer)? Start a blog about it. Are you obsessed with cake decorating? Share your knowledge with the world. The more great content you have on your website, the more people are going to visit it—and the more money that's going to come in.

5. Create computer software

Believe it or not, many people make good money by developing programs for Macs and PCs. If you're creative enough to put together an application that adds value to peoples' lives, then you might be able to sell it over the Internet. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, first read up on how HTML works, then head over to HubPages .com  to learn about making money as a writer.

6. Start an online business

Believe it or not, I started this website as a legitimate business that makes money—as opposed to just something I do for fun and self-expression (although those things are very important to me). A few months ago I wrote about how to start your blog, but the same basic ideas apply here: you need to invest some time and money into starting up a website and then growing it with content that people want to read. Google Adsense is another great way of getting the word out about your site.

7. Become a virtual assistant

You can find work as a virtual assistant by contacting companies looking for someone comfortable using Microsoft Office, email, social media, and basic Internet research. These jobs are usually part-time, so you can do them even if you're busy with school or work. Rates of pay vary depending on the role, but for most people, it's around $10 per hour (although some virtual assistants make more than double that amount).

8. Sell your old stuff

Although I've already mentioned Craigslist, there are other sites like Decluttr where you can sell all kinds of old stuff—including video games, DVDs, books, electronics, CDs, and furniture. If you're not comfortable meeting up with strangers to buy/sell stuff, then try starting an online store.

9. Get paid to click ads

This is one of the least time-intensive ways of earning money, but it can add up if you're serious about it. Tons of websites pay people to click on their ads (like Swagbucks and FusionCash ), so this option is great for anyone who's looking for a little extra spending money.

You don't always have to work hard doing the same thing every day in order to make ends meet. If you're creative enough, there are plenty of ways to take control of your financial situation—no matter how much or how little you make each month. The important thing is believing in yourself and trying different things until something works out.
