“The Importance of E-Learning in Education”

Innovation and Technology are the two words that have been defining the 21st century. When the computer was invented by Charles Babbage in 1832 nobody knew that it will write a new Age for the world “Computer Age”. But today nothing in this world can work without technology. In a time when people stood at long queues to make an STD call who knew that they will do face timing on a 4g network.

If we go by history then the first innovative tool that entered the classroom was the projector. It was used in those institutions where a lot of pictorial representation or diagrams were used. But today we have switched to Digital classes, video classes by teachers thanks to Coronavirus. In this article, I will try to assess the important benefits that have made technology an important part of education.

Study/Teach at your comfort

Although technology has a plethora of benefits to offer to students or teachers. But the most important reward it has given is E-learning or digital learning. With growing online classes that are being held by reputed teachers on various platforms, students can now study in the comforts of their house. Take for example earlier a student preparing for govt exam has to roam attend coaching that exhausted his time and energy. But with E-learning, he can attend the same class while staying in his bedroom leading to 0 exhaustion and more productivity.

Environment Friendly

Today everybody is talking about climate preservation, dying natural resources are a question of worry for many. But the problems need an effective solution and not just words. Technology has led to the development of e-books in the form of pdfs. It can be accessed through PC or smartphones and educational institutes are also encouraging its use amongst students. This has reduced the production of paperback books causing less deforestation.

Opens up creative thinking

Creativity is the most important element that is required in the recipe for a good education system. Why America or Britain have more creative people in their country because they have such a creative education system. In India, we have a traditional way of teaching/learning in which just mug up the syllabus and appear in the exam. Top the exam and you are good to go but do good marks mean a productive or creative mind? There are many instances where we find that the students who topped the class is doing nothing happening but the average students of the same class are in a better position than him. Technology helps in illustrating the lessons that a student learnt making it a more creative approach. It goes like this the lessons can be presented through video or image for wider user engagement. Research has proved that the brain can retain information for a longer time it sees than that it mugs up.
